How are Bondon sauna hats made?
Bondon sauna hats are handcrafted in Canada using a traditional process rooted in centuries old European sauna culture. Each hat begins as a woven form and is then carefully fulled, a method that compresses and binds the fibres together through heat, moisture, and movement. This process creates a seamless, unlined structure with no stitching or synthetic reinforcement. The result is a premium sauna hat with natural insulation, durability, and an heirloom level of craftsmanship.
What makes Bondon different from felted sauna hats?
Bondon sauna hats are made using 100 percent renewable animal fibres that are first woven together before being felted and are completely seamless. This construction allows the fibres to retain their natural antibacterial and breathable properties while creating strength and flexibility far superior to fibres that have only been felted. Most conventional felt hats are made of compressed felt which can fall apart over time, or are branded with embroidery or sewn in tags or loops that introduce thread into the hat. Most often the thread is not 100% cotton or linen. And is wrapped nylon or polyester which contains microplastics.
How should I care for my sauna hat?
To care for your Bondon sauna hat, spot clean gently using cool water and a mild detergent. Do not wring or twist the hat. Instead, press out excess water and allow it to air dry naturally. To maintain softness and reduce pilling, use a sweater stone periodically, brushing in a downward direction. When not in use, store your hat on the provided form to help maintain its shape. If the brim softens over time, a natural resin hat stiffener may be used to restore structure.
Can Bondon hats be worn in a steam room?
Yes. If you regularly use a steam bath or humid sauna, we recommend choosing the classic or cloche style sauna hat. These silhouettes performs best in high moisture environments while continuing to regulate heat and protect the head.
What is your return policy
Bondon will accept unworn hats, with tags on, when the returns process is initiated within 7 days of receipt. Please see our refund policy, Bondon stands behind the quality of its craftsmanship. If the body of your sauna hat experiences ripping under normal wear within two years of purchase, we will replace it at no cost. Decorative elements such as top buttons, florets, or loops are not covered under warranty. If you believe your hat qualifies for replacement, please contact us with photos at info@bondonofficial.com.
When will my order arrive?
For retail orders of one to five sauna hats within Canada, please allow two to four weeks for production and delivery. Each hat is made with care rather than held in mass inventory. For wholesale orders, a delivery estimate based on order quantity will be provided within forty eight hours of purchase.
